In traditional publishing, a publisher selects manuscripts for publication based on their quality and marketability, investing money and effort in producing, marketing and distributing the book. The self-publisher does all of the above for his own book. As there is absence of independent third-party screening of the manuscript such as by an editor, self-published books remain suspect in the eyes of reviewers, bookstores, and readers and, therefore, often suffer from assumptions. The Rise and Rise of eBooks

The publishing world is changing and how. The rise of eBooks in the digital publishing world has forever changed the landscape of publishing. The world has come a long way since the launch of the first eBook reader way back in 1998. So what’s new? The Association of American Publishers (AAP) reported that sales were down 21% over the same period 2009, which is, well, old hat. But, surprise, surprise, sale of eBooks was up 158% for the same period and 188% over last year.
